Austin

Large Adult Male Siberian Husky
-Austin is a good boy that may have had a bad start to his life. It appears that someone has “jerked” him around by his collar as he came to us very insecure and unsure of himself and a bit snappy if you tried to lead him by his collar. We have worked with him on this and he has improved 10 fold but he is still not 100% comfortable in being led by his collar. He leashes up beautifully, he just doesn’t like to be guided along via his collar. The other side of that is he listens very well and takes direction to the point you don’t have to lead him by his collar. He is very treat and toy motivated so there are alternatives to get him to respond to you. Austin will need a gentle, patient, understanding person for him to excel. Austin is a red and white male with blue eyes. He weighs about 40 lbs. and his guestimated DOB is October 2005.

Austin is an independent boy who doesn’t really play with the other dogs at his foster home. He is not bothered by the other dogs but just doesn’t interact often. He loves to cozy up in his crate with a Nylabone and is most content. When he is outside he goes off and does his own thing in the yard - sniffing and digging. He does love to dig holes in the back yard. When he's inside, he tends to hang out in his crate or goes to his comfy spot at the bay window in the dining room. He is house trained, crate trained and knows sit. He does not get up on furniture or the bed and is not destructive in the house.

Austin will excel in a home as an only dog with all the attention or with another canine sibling, but he is not necessarily going to be a playmate for another dog. He will not be adopted out to anyone with toddlers or young children. Cats are probably not a good idea for him either.
