Southern Siberian Rescue shares the financial hardships and heartache for those Siberians and we work hard to save as many as we can. Following are some very simple ways you can help us save the lives of Siberian Huskies in shelters across North Carolina and the South East: Foster a Dog: The best way you can help is to directly foster a dog. When you foster, we will temperament test a Siberian in a shelter and as long as he/she is a sweet dog, we will pull so you can bring him/her into your home and provide food, love and work on house manners and commands for him/her until he/she is adopted. SSR pays for all the medical expenses for the dog. You may need to help this dog learn to trust and love again, but no matter how much work you put in, it’s worth it! Donate Money: Although we would like to save every Siberian, medical expenses, heartworm prevention, flea and tick prevention, food and the general expenses of running a rescue build up. We need all the donations we can get so we can save as many Siberians as possible. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization, so your monetary donation is tax-deductible! Check References: When we receive applications, we need to call the references that come with them to make sure the applicants will make good Siberian parents. These volunteers are critical to our application process. Check Homes: If we approve of the initial application, we need to conduct home checks to make sure the applicant’s home will be a good environment for a Siberian. These volunteers are critical to our application process. Check Shelters: We always need volunteers to follow shelters and find out information on Siberians in need. It is normally imperative to move the dogs out of the shelter quickly so the faster we can gather information on the dogs temperament and personality, the faster we can help and get them out of the shelter. Poster and Spread the Word: Before the application process can begin, we need to get applicants! That begins with getting the word out through postering, Facebook shares and word of mouth.
