About Jordy

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Black with White
  • Housetrained: Yes

SSR is pleased to announce that we are partnering with Nash Correctional Institution and are proudly participating in their 'A New Leash On Life' prison training program. Jordy is one of our foster dogs that completed training and she graduated on June 20, 2009. During her time at Nash, Jordy learned sit, shake with both paws, down and rollover. She had fun with the agility course, which includes walking the bench, climbing an A-Frame, jumping through a tire, placing on a pedestal and then doing her sit, shakes and down.

Name: Jordy
Sex: Female
Approx. DOB: August 2006
Weight: Approx. 45 lbs.
Coat Color: Jet Black and White
Eye Color: Blue
Energy Level: Medium to high. Jordy is a most active little girl and will run circles with her foster siblings. She gets most active at dinner time!
Personality: Silly and playful. Jordy likes to play cat and mouse with her people. She will playbow and run the other way and come back and get some loving and then be off again. She enjoys a good Nylabone but if that's not satifying, she will do some counter surfing. She pretty much has free reign of her foster home but is crated during the day or times when there are certain dogs out and about. Jordy has recently decided that she doesn't care for some of the new female foster dogs - or they don't care for her - so they are separated. When she's out at night, she peacefully sleeps in the bedroom on the floor.
Good with Dogs: Yes but has had some disagreements with some females in her foster home - but not all! She will do well as an only dog or a male canine sibling.
Good with Cats: No
Good with Children: Yes
Housetrained: Yes but Jordy came to us with an intramural ectopic ureter, which means she was continually leaking pee. We have done two surgeries for her to fix the problem so she seems to need to go out a bit more often than other dogs. She pees little bits at a time but doesn't have any problems telling you that she needs to go out. She does sometimes get distracted and not go to the back door and then realizes she has to pee and she does so right then.
Crate Trained: Yes but she will let you know when she wants out.
Rides Well in Car: Yes
Leash Trained: She does pull some but no more than any other Siberian!
Basic Obedience: If you can get Jordy to settle down long enough and focus, she will sit for a treat. She's an active girl and on the go and has to check out everything in the house on a regular basis. She does do some counter surfing still but we're working on that.
